Can You Do That???

Yesterday in all the ciaos, Edward had gone up stairs. I didn't see that he had taken his portable DVD player with him. He decided to give it a little bath in the sink. Oie Vey!!! Needless to say it is ruined. Thankfully we have coverage on it and will be able to replace it. Kids!!!

They Call Him the Streak

I forgot to share this yesterday. When we got home from taking the dogs to the kennel. I was at the sink rinsing of Dora and her pony Cookie, when I turned around to ask Edward was something. He appears and he is completely naked from the waist down. Of course the floor guys are there. I guess he thought it was his home and he wanted to be comfortable, so why not take it all off. That boy!!!!

Let Me Show You How, Daddy!

TOO FUNNY not to share. We were having oreo cookies and milk for desert in the hotel room. Edward had picked the ones with the chocolate creme filling. Kirk asked what the chocolate filling was all about. I told him Edward had picked them out. Edward decides to chime in at this time. He says "Daddy, it's a cookie! You dunk it in the milk like this (showing Kirk how to dunk his cookie(please note he is using Kirk's cookie to show Kirk how to enjoy a cookie)), Daddy! Then you eat it like this (taking bite of the cookie)." Then he hands the cookie back to Kirk. LOL!!! To funny.

Floors so far

The above picture was before they removed the carpet
The above picture was right after the carpet and pad was removed. They said they had never encountered a carpet so well stapled down.....lets just say the installer was overly staple happy.
The above picture was right after it was first sanded.
This above picture was right after the filler was put down.

What a day!!

As you know we had the floor guys come in to do the floors in the family room (Edward's Playroom). Well, I had to go down stairs to flip the breaker for them and noticed water all over the floor where the water heater is. Kirk ended up calling plumbers and having them come in and replacing the water heater. We knew it was going to be something we were going to have to do because it was over 25 yrs old. So now we have a new 50 gallon water heater instead of a 25 + yr old 30 gallon water heater. Dogs are safe in their kennels at a local dog kennel. They will be there until Saturday. We are staying in a hotel tonight and tomorrow night due to the fumes from the floor sealers. Speaking of the floors they look great. See the next blog entry for picks up to the point of sanding.

Like Father, Like Son

I must admit this is hilarious, or at least I think it is. Kirk tends to talk in his sleep from time to time, he will even bust up laughing. It's so funny, like he is truly enjoying his dreams. Well, I have noticed that Edward smiles in his sleep but not only that he too laughs and talks. This morning for example all of a sudden be blurts out "Walk The Reindeer". Between him and his daddy, it is a comical event during the night. Good think for the most part, I am still a pretty hard sleeper.....that is when I am able to get into a good sleep....which is rare lately.

What in the World were we THINKING?

Okay the floor guy came yesterday, took measurements and due to all the excitement and the fact that my mom is coming for Edward's 4th Birthday we wanted to get the floors done ASAP. Well ASAP ended up being first thing this coming Thursday morning, so that means we have to empty out that room 100% by the time we go to bed this evening. On top of this all, a big wig from Kirks work is in town, so that means they are going out after he gets off of work.....so, we becomes me. I have to finish what Kirk and I could not get done last night. Thankfully the dogs are at the vet for the morning and I don't have them, just Edward under foot. I will have to go pick them up soon though, then I will have them under foot plus still have other things in the house I need to get done before we move into a hotel for Thursday and Friday evening. Can't stay here tomorrow night because we will not be able to access the only shower in the house. Friday night requires us to not be in the house because of the fumes from the sealers and stuff. Exciting, huh? We get to do this all over again when we have the down stairs re done this fall or winter and again next year when we have the upstairs done. Have to empty all the rooms. FUN! FUN! FUN! Never realize how lucky you are to have the space that you have until you have empty a room and find places to put everything so people can get around. We still need to find a kennel to put the dogs in overnight on Friday. Can't have them locked outside all night causing ruckus, don't want the neighbors to hate us. :0) Well, better get back to emptying that room, thankfully I am almost done. Have to leave the couch in there until Kirk gets home and can give me a hand moving it. I hope he doesn't stay out to late tonight because he also has a dentist appointment first thing in the morning.

Little Voice on the Other End of the Phone

Edward has taken up answering the phone. He now races to be the one who answers the phone when it rings. It is so cute. However it is time to teach him how to answer it properly. He seems to think that everyone who is calling is Daddy. LOL!!! He is just growing up so fast. He knows how to use the remote for the TV and will pause the show you are watching if he leaves the room (we have DVR's downstairs). He is just to much.

Escape Artist????

Took the dogs to the vet today. They took Sebastian and Bear back to the kennels first, the little gal came back to finish the check in. I was still holding on to Storm. I looked back at the door because I heard what I thought was scratching and sniffing. Sure enough I did. Bear-Bear had broken out of his kennel. He is such a goof ball. We were able to get him safely back into his kennel. Leave it to our dogs to be the trouble makers.

It seems just like yesterday

My thoughts have been on my niece Megan alot lately. You see this is her last year of High School. When I married Kirk, she was almost 3 1/2 yrs old. Her little brother was just a brand new baby, only few days over 3 months old. She came with her mom, Kirk's sister, to our wedding. She was so sweet and cute. She was such a good girl at the wedding. Baby brother stayed at home with his daddy, that to me said so much about what a great dad his daddy must be to care for him so his mommy could go to her little brothers wedding. I never met any of Kirk's family until we got married. We only dated for 1 month and about 21 days before we got married. NO I WASN'T EXPECTING....LOL....everyone thinks that when you tell them you had a whirlwind courtship. Anyway, I digress, my niece asked her mom why we didn't do that happy dance like they did at the end of the Little Mermaid. I still think of that day often (with a smile, I might add), and I still see her that way some days in my mind. It is so hard for me to believe that she is voting age, driving age and will be heading off to college in the fall. She is a beautiful young woman and fine young adult. That is right I said it. Trust me I don't give out the title Young Adult lightly, I know 30 yr olds who haven't even earned the title of adult. She has had a strong Christian upbringing and you can tell that by the way she conducts herself now. I know that she will do wonderful in College and my thoughts and prayers will go with her as she starts this new era in her life.

Crying Shame

We just had a floor guy come to the house to do some measuring on the playroom and to give us an estimate on how much it could cost to have hard wood floors (75% of the house is visible hardwood, ends up more like 98% of the house is hardwood floors) in there. We knew that it was an addition so we never in our wildest dreams thought that there would be a hardwood floor under the carpet in that room. Well, he pulled back the carpet to see what was in there and low and behold there is Solid Oak Floors in that room. It was a wonderful surprise. Some idiot covered up all those beautiful wood floors with carpet, and not very pretty carpet at that. They will be here on Thursday to pull up the carpet and do all the things to it that need to be done to make it beautiful. We will have a completely new room by Saturday. Then he told us some more wonderful news all the wood floors on the 1st floor of the house, which include the kitchen (someone put linoleum over the top of it), are Antique Heart Pine Floors (very expensive....like 14 dollars a square foot to get it put in your home now). So the entire main floor is all wood floors except the bathroom, front entry mud room, and the small addition on the back of the kitchen. He thinks that under the upstairs bathroom tile floor is also wood floor. The entire second floor and the stairs (from the first floor to the second) are Solid Oak Floors. All repairable and refinishable. YEAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! So I bet our house might be worth far more than the estimates that were given to the morgage companies. This things will make great selling points should we ever choose to sell and move. Oh! All our windows are antique glass. Yes, eventually we will need to get them replaced but that glass is exteremly valuable, so we will be very careful removing it. I am considering having a hutch or something handcraft for me using some of that glass. We have an antique lead window (my mother in law confirmed that) in our entry mud room.....lol, I had mentioned maybe stain glassing it and she told Kirk not to let me do that, that it was antique. We decided not to have the kitchen relocated or even widened out. We are just going to have it gutted and some slight changes to it and we think we can get room for less money. I am very excited. I think this will be fun. If you got our Christmas letter, like I said in that, I feel a Flip that House type senario coming on for us. When they are done with the playroom floor I will take pictures and share.

Shuuuuu!!!!!!

I have gotten to do a few loads of laundry now with my new washing machine. I am so happy I am able to adjust the water temperature on a few of the settings, like the main one I would use to wash our clothes. It does take 2hrs though to do a load of towels or sheets. I can already tell our clothes are a lot cleaner and brighter, compared to what our old washer was doing to them.

A Funny

Okay I am warning you right up front that this has to do with a woman's time of the month and might be a little TMI for some folks. Edward will not stay out of the bathroom (can't lock the doors...down stairs bath has a pocket door....no lock and no way to lock it or even hold it closed where he can't get in. Upstairs has a lock but whatever idiot painted the lock and we can't get it to work correctly, scared we might get locked in the bathroom. Old door with old lock, so wont take out because we want to keep our house as close to original as possible (it is almost 100 yrs old)) when I am in there. I usually don't care but I do when it is that time of the month (which with my PCOS isn't guaranteed to take place every month unless I am taking fertility meds). Anyways needless to say he has seen things like pads and tampons. Today while the men where downstairs dealing with the new washer and dryer, Edward was helping me get his lunch ready. He saw some used tea bags (round....no strings) on my tea bag hold. They were purplish red due to be pomogrant green tea. He says to me kinda loud, mommy why do you put these in your gyna. I thought he asked why I put them in my china, so I said to make tea honey. No he said, pointing to at me and asking again why do you put these in your gyna? I said oh no honey, those are to make tea. I left it at that. I didn't want to get into why women menstrate with my 3 almost 4 yr old. Sometimes he can ask the most inappropriate questions at the most inappropriate times. We don't hide things from him, we are very up front about everything but we do only answer accordingly to his age. We believe you have to be open about your body and why God made it the way he did, in order to give him a good self image about his body. I really can't stand it when I hear parents asking their children things like "does your wooo hooo hurt??" or "did you make a nice shuuu shuuu?" What is that all about? Why can't they just come out and ask directly what they are wanting to know. They are only causing confussion and teaching their children to be ashamed of how God made them. I think it is a crying shame.

Woooo Hoooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I finally got a new, much nicer (not bottom of the line) washer and dryer. Our old ones were over 6yrs old, they will most likely be fixed up and given to a needy family from my understanding. I do wish I could have had them sent to New Jersey for a great family (not saying that they are needy by any means....more for convience for them) I know, who could desperatly use a set instead of trudging off weekly to the laundry mat. Anyway the picture up above is what my new washer looks like. It is a Kenmore HE2t Front-Loading Automatic Washer. The Dryer is slightly different from the washer, not a true matching set. But Hey I don't care, they are in the basement and no one will really see them but Kirk and I.....well, mainly me....LOL!! I am so excited...yep about a washing machine and dryer, I love new gadgets. Anyway the only real big difference between the Washing Machine and the Dry is that the Washers door is Chrome and the Dryers is white. The Dryer is a Kenmore Elite HE4. So many new buttons and things to get use too. It has all sorts of settings. I have to get use to not choosing temp of wash, it does it automatically for me. They have them set so that you get the best cleaning for the garment you are washing. I am hoping my clothes don't shrink to much...I have always washed all my clothes in cold except towels and bedding. So this will take some getting use too. But hey I am happy to have new ones and I hope the new washer doesnt back up into the utility sink, causing water to go all over the basement. IF that still continues then the next thing will be to have the sink lines checked, I guess.

TTC Update

Just wanted to let my readers know, that we had no such luck getting pregnant. The clomid is gone now, we need to get ourselves to the doctor and get more tests done. So we can see where we can go from here, if anywhere. Basically, we have to see where our difficulty is coming from. If it is me, probably just more intense infertility treatments. If it is Kirk (I am especially concerned about it, if something happened due to his accident and how he will handle that info), then I am not sure what the procedures are or if we can even do anything about. However I have decided that we will get the initial tests done, a sperm count basically, and if it isn't him then I think I am going to take the summer off before we start trying again. I want to give my body a rest from all those meds. I also need to have another dye test done (for my PCOS...to see if there are any blockages or cysts) I think, guess I will see what my doctor has to say about this. Will keep you posted.

Unique Sleeping Place

This is a picture of Edward, he fell asleep on his Thomas the Tank Engine Table last night. He had had a very busy day with his daddy. I woke up sick yesterday morning, so we didn't go to chuch. I have a hard time when it comes to sharing germs, I know I am suppose to teach Edward to share, but this is one thing I just can't seem to bring myself to teach him to share with others. :0) Anyway after he got home from the park and picking up a floor cleaner, he came home played a little bit, then went up stairs...threw a fit.....and then it got exteremly quiet. I went up to check on him, sleeping on the table is where I found him. Just had to share.

Edward's Big News

Edward has some great news to share, he has 2 GodMother's. He has been waiting for over 4 yrs now (that includes the in womb time) for mommy and daddy to get around to deciding who will be blessed (and will bless Edward) with being his GodMother. I have asked my 2 Sisters at Heart (Jennifer and Trisha) to fill this role for Edward. I know these 2 ladies are the ones God has put in our lives to fill this role.
GODMOTHER
She gives Guidance, Prayers and Love to her Godchild.
She teaches through example the path of God above.
I am so blessed to know that God has given us these 2 special ladies in our lives to help share in the upbringing of Edward. I know that he will always have safe loving arms around him and women in his life who will love him unconditionally and get on their knees and pray for him every night.
